Denim played a major role in Ralph Lauren’s Spring 2027 menswear collection, presented in Milan this past week. Called “Dream Racer”, rather than relying on jeans alone. The collection included denim across tailoring, workwear, and collegiate sportswear, reinforcing Ralph Lauren’s Americana heritage with elevated craftsmanship.
Yes, Ralph Lauren means Americana, and Americana means denim. The three pillars have rolled deep since the designer’s early days.
But rarely has Lauren used the hardy material as inventively as he did here. Deploying it in patchwork form across a double-breasted smoking jacket, a flowy robe, and a peak-lapel blazer paired with barrel-leg jeans, among many other instances.
Perhaps the most striking development was the use of dark indigo denim in tailored pieces, like, for instance, in denim dinner jackets layered over denim vests. The overall mood was definitely polished rather than rugged.
