Diesel’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection, created by Glenn Martens, took center stage at Milan Fashion Week with a powerful focus on sustainability and innovation.
In case you are wondering why some of the models were walking kind of wobbly – the floor was all made of shredded denim!
This collection was all about transforming waste into something new and beautiful, as seen through Martens’ creative use of denim scraps. The set for the show itself was made from 14,800 kg of recycled denim, symbolizing the brand’s commitment to circularity and reducing waste.
There is beauty in waste! After the show, the entire set will be reused and repurposed. For example, denim roll will be utilized in the automotive and insulation sectors.
On a side-note. We’re still curious – why the alien-like contact lenses all the models were wearing?!?
The collection was devoted to the elevation of denim everyday. Seemingly simple garments are crafted with extra long embroidered fringe, devoré jacquard and double loom denim combined with circularity, laser and distressed treatments that stretch the boundaries of Diesel’s denim experiment.
Included were Diesel’s signature distressed aesthetic with innovative pieces like leather jackets that mimicked denim and micro-shorts adorned with long embroidered fringes. Martens also played with textures, using techniques like devoré jacquard, which burns away cotton to reveal tulle underneath, and creating intricate designs with laser-cut denim and double loom knits.
Martens’ approach aimed to highlight the environmental impact of fashion, particularly denim, and Diesel’s efforts to produce more sustainable collections. The spring 2025 collection also featured accessories like the TRASH-D bag made from recycled materials, and transparent footwear, further emphasizing the brand’s push towards eco-conscious fashion.
