For his fall/winter 2024 runway show on January 19th, Kenzo’s creative director, Nigo, brought his audience to the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris, right close to where his very own studio is located.
The fall/winter 2024 season saw a move away from the logomania of Spring/Summer 2024 and instead a more pared-back affair. You can check out the S/S 2024 looks here.
The collection includes silhouettes rooted in Japanese tradition but infused with the associations of sci-fi-related uniforms: a kimono coat imbued with the lines of a warrior cape, a weave inspired by the wood print of a Japanese hakeshi baten fireman’s jacket evoking an ancient-future graphic, or a plissé dress draped like the cloak of a space fiction heroine.
And, naturally there is also some pretty cool denim👖
On a side-note for all leather addicts: this 2023/24 winter season already was a lot about all kinds of leather and vegan leather leggings. And judging from the Kenzo fall/winter 2024/25 winter preview, leather leggings continue being a sure thing!
