Last year, Levi’s® joined forces with Eli Russell Linnetz’s ERL, a California based fashion label that has made waves with playful, retro-inspired designs blending pop art aesthetics with skate and surf culture. In the first-ever collection, these beloved California brands reinterpreted iconic Levi’s® denim by paying homage to California’s casual, sun-faded energy. Building on the branding, finishing, and styles developed in their first collaboration, the latest Levi’s® x ERL collection reworks more denim classics for unique, fresh, and washed-out looks.
The Levi’s® x ERL collection features a pair of bootcut jeans, vest, overall, dress, and purse, each in light wash denim with variation. Inspired by a 70s style Levi’s® silhouette, the Vest is washed out and triple lined with a shaggy sherpa finish at the bottom. Slightly long, the vest features burnished tin shanks, zig zag stitching on the back and side seams, and ERL embroidery on the bottom right front panel. With a line of shanks front and center, the Dress is a women’s-focused look with a straight hem, zig zag stitching at the side seams, inseam pockets on each side, and the ERL logo stamp on bottom right, towards the hem.
The Overall has a wide, baggy leg with pintuck side striping, calling back to the Short from the first collaboration. A simplified style with no front pocket, just a center seam, the light-rinse overall has a tonal zig zag stitch on the center seam, ERL embroidery stamp on the left leg, and a hammer loop at the wearer’s right leg. The Bootcut Jean combines ERL’s staple fit jean – looser at the knee, tighter up top – with the classic Levi’s® 517 fit. With side seam slits that make the jean flare out slightly, they come with a distressed waistband, ERL wave stitch on underside of wearer’s right pocket, a Two-Horse Pull graphic printed in white in place of a traditional patch, and an ERL embroidery stamp on the wearer’s bottom right leg, toward the hem. And finally, the Denim Purse is designed to look like jeans with 5-pocket styling. Crafted with co-branded shanks and an embroidered ERL logo on the back, the purse features the collection’s zig zag stitch over the seams, a backprint of the two horse patch, and a padded interior.
The latest Levi’s® x ERL collection was once again photographed by Linnetz, and brings to life the sun-kissed vibe of a Californian, Americana cast.
