Baggy Jeans – “In” Or “Out” This Fall?!

Baggy jeans are not really “out” for Fall 2026. A better way to describe the shift is that the extreme, super-slouchy baggy jean is losing its dominance, while relaxed, elongated and more controlled versions are still very much relevant.

What’s really changing for Fall 2026:

1. Baggy → “baggy but cleaner”
The newest silhouette sits somewhere between baggy, wide-leg and straight-leg. The emerging shape as roomier than straight jeans but slightly more tapered than the very loose styles that dominated the previous seasons. The key is longer hems and less balloon-like volume.

2. The exaggerated 2024/25 puddle jean is cooling off
This is where the “baggy is out” narrative comes from. The giant, ultra-low, ultra-wide jean with enormous volume isn’t the freshest interpretation anymore.

But that doesn’t mean the entire relaxed category disappeared. “Baggy skinny”is probably the most important evolution if you’re tracking the direction of denim.

And – there’s something else. It seems that there’s a lot of low-rise “on the rise” again! But more about this in another feature coming up soon – stay tuned here @Denimology.
